Update to Club Insurance
11th November 2024
Club has paid both Gallagher Insurance as well as the new AON Insurance. Hoping to get a full refund from Gallagher as AON offers a broader insurance option. AON has been organised by the Fed Historic Motoring SA. I believe the club should not have been asked to renew the Gallagher Ins as the Federation was looking into a new provider at the time.
Gallagher Ins $934.21
AON Insurance $1,473.67

Hello again Derek,

Hi Kali
Thanks for your email, I have done a general comparison between our covers and Gallaghers for other members and included that below.
As you have paid with us and covered from 01/10/2024 I cant see a reason why you wouldn’t be able to cancel the Gallaghers cover and get a full refund
Key points below:
Management Liability
- Gallaghers are offering a limit of $5M where we are offering a limit of $1M with $2M in the aggregate. The Gallaghers offering is also a combined $5M limit for all clubs where as our offering is a $1M limit and $2M in the aggregate specific to you only.
- Gallaghers excess seems to be $2,500 for most claims where our excess is nil except for Employment Practices liability, OH&S and Pollution claims which the excess is $2,000
- Gallaghers are only offering Management Liability where we are offering a larger Association Liability Policy. Management Liability essentially covers the committee for the day to day running of the club. However an Association Liability policy includes:
- Professional Indemnity – covers you for any general information provided to members or the public. Also covers you for your duty of care, libel or slander etc
- Association Liability – Professional Indemnity and Management Liability responds to claims against individuals only. Association Liability responds to claims against the club as a whole. This could include contractual breaches, legislation requirements, statutory liability etc
- Employment Practices Liability – cover extends to volunteers as well and covers bullying, harassment and discrimination
- Fidelity – theft of funds or money by a member of the club
Public Liability
- There is no difference to cover as it is provided by the same insurer. As above I am raising this with SLE as this shouldn’t be available to Gallaghers
Volunteers Personal Accident
Below is key differences available under the Aon policy not available under Gallaghers
- Nil age limits (Must be able to follow instruction and work independently)
- Home Help limited to 52 weeks for those over the age of 65
- Funeral Expenses: $10,000
- Out of pocket expenses due to an injury reasonably and necessarily incurred: $3,000
- Paraplegia or Quadriplegia - Home or car renovation/modification up to: $15,000
- Professional financial planning advice provided by a qualified financial planner following a claim: $10,000
- Accommodation & Transport Expenses: $10,000
- Non Medicare Medical Expenses – 100% of costs up to a maximum of $15,000
- Nil excess on all claims except medical expense claims. $50 each & every claim.
Overall it does seem Aon is offering a broader coverage
Kind regards,
Derek
